Westminster Abbey has been confirmed as the location for the April 29 wedding. The couple chose the spot because of "its staggering beauty, its 1,000 years of royal history and its relative intimacy despite its size," said Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, William's private secretary, according to The Telegraph.

Westminster Abbey, the choice of which has been widely expected, is the traditional site for a royal wedding, but weddings have been held elsewhere. William's father, Prince Charles, and his mother, the late Princess Diana, were married in St. Paul's Cathedral. Diana's funeral was held at Westminster Abbey.
