The two singles champions each receive $1.79 million, a modest increase over 2011. The largest pay raise, of 26 percent, goes to first-round losers, who receive roughly $22,500. The pay scale was readjusted because of growing rumors of unrest among lower-ranked players, struggling to make ends meet.
