Yemen's protesters clashed with pro-government forces Monday during a sit-in at Sanaa University in the fourth straight day of unrest in the country. Protests have been on-and-off for weeks now and conciliatory gestures from the government, most notably a promise from President Ali Abdullah Saleh that he would not run for reelection in the 2013 presidential elections, have not been enough to satsify protesters, the New York Times reported. On Sunday, more than 1,000 people turned out in the streets of the capital in a seemingly leaderless event that bore similarities to Egypt's mass uprisings.
