Turkey's Kemal Davis could be a compromise candidate. European nations want someone from the eurozone, and Turkey is a candidate for membership in the European Union. Emerging powerhouses want someone from their camp, meanwhile, and Turkey could be a palatable choice for them, Time Magazine reports. Mr. Davis, who oversaw Turkey’s rebound from its 2001 financial crisis, now works for The Brookings Institution. He also is the former head of the United Nations Development Program.
Time notes that his nationality could be a problem – Turkey and Greece have a fraught relationship, and Greece remains one of the IMF’s toughest challenges.
