Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.

Today is the 176th birthday of Mark Twain, the great American writer of not only fiction but also travel stories.
Finally, in a May 20, 1891, letter to the magazine editor and novelist W.D. Howells, Twain confides that he is getting tired of traveling.
“Travel has no longer any charm for me. I have seen all the foreign countries I want to except heaven & hell & I have only a vague curiosity about one of those.”
