Ajdabiya

Map of Libya.

Ajdabiya’s importance lies mainly in its location at an important crossroads for the country. It is situated along the country’s coastal highway, which connects almost all of Libya’s major cities, and is where some important inland roads – one headed south to a desert oasis and another headed east to Tobruk and the Egyptian border – link up with the highway.
Ajdabiya’s economy boomed with the development of Libya’s oil industry because of its proximity to the oil town of Brega and it is now a sort of urban center for Brega as well as two other nearby oil towns, Ras Lanuf and Bin Jawad.
