Iran is the third-largest exporter of crude oil in the world, behind Saudi Arabia and Russia. Its economy relies heavily on oil exports. According to tallies from June 2011, here is a list of the top 5 importers of Iranian oil.

South Korea bought 10 percent of Iran’s oil exports between January and June 2011, making it the fourth-largest importer, with an average 244,000 bpd.
South Korea, a longtime US ally, has been under pressure from the US government to decrease oil imports from Iran, reports The New York Times. Earlier this year the US sent two senior officials to South Korea to encourage Seoul to decrease its reliance on Iranian oil, reports Bloomberg.
