Michael Vick started his first home game of the season against the rival Redskins on Sunday. Unfortunately for the Eagles, he wasn't around for the finish.
The Philadelphia quarterback left the game against Washington with rib and chest injuries.
"I talked to him at halftime and he said his sternum and collarbone were hurting," wide receiver DeSean Jackson said.
Vick needed X-rays in the locker room after he was hit in the first quarter, and he did not return to the bench for the second half. He will have an MRI exam on Monday.
The Eagles were mum on the severity of the injuries and Vick declined comment.
"He's got a sore chest is what I can tell you right now," coach Andy Reid said.
Vick scrambled 23 yards, but was sandwiched on a hard hit by Kareem Moore and DeAngelo Hall and was slow to get up late in the first quarter. Kevin Kolb, the No. 1 QB when the season started, quickly warmed up and was in on the next play.
Vick's run was wiped out on a holding penalty by guard Max Jean-Gilles.
Kolb suffered a concussion in the season opener, allowing Vick to take over the job.
Vick was sensational as the starter. He had 750 yards passing, six touchdowns and no interceptions, and also ran for 170 yards and one score in 10 quarters. For his efforts, Vick earned NFC offensive player of the month honors.
He was 5 of 7 for 49 yards passing and rushed three times for 17 yards against Washington.
The Eagles also lost Pro Bowl cornerback Asante Samuel and wide receiver Riley Cooper to concussions. And Redskins running back Clinton Portis left with a groin injury in the fourth quarter. Portis had 11 carries for 55 yards.
Vick wasn't the only quarterback injured Sunday. The Bears' Jay Cutler, who was sacked nine times, sustained a concussion in a 17-3 loss to the Giants, and backup Todd Collins also left the game with an undisclosed injury in the second half.
Elsewhere in the NFL, Carolina wide receiver Steve Smith left in the second half against the New Orleans Saints with a left ankle injury.
"I'm just going to try to walk to the plane without too much pain and see how it feels in the morning," Smith said.
New Orleans safety Pierson Prioleau went out with a chest injury while covering a kick in the first half, and Chris Reis hurt his right shoulder in the third quarter, also on a kick.
Titans wide receiver Justin Gage hurt his left hamstring and rookie defensive end Derrick Morgan hurt his left knee in Tennessee's 26-20 loss to Denver.
Seahawks offensive tackle Russell Okung re-injured a high right ankle sprain in the second quarter against the Rams, and Packers rookie safety Morgan Burnett left the win over the Lions in the first half with a knee sprain.
