Brooke Holder is in her fourth year at Emerson College in Boston, majoring in journalism with a minor in photography.

In high school, Brooke began writing for a college blog called Altangeles, that highlights local rock musicians, growing her love of storytelling. At Emerson, she has written and photographed for three magazines and been a member of the school’s broadcasting channels, WEBN and WEBN Sports. Her favorite stories she’s reported on are Election Night parties, the Boston Marathon, and the 2024 EXTRAordinary Women of Boston reception.

In a perfect world, she would be reporting on every Formula 1 race or traveling the world with a camera in both hands. But until that day comes you can find her covering sports, culture, and the environment.

Why is Christian Science in our name?

Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.

The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we’ve aimed “to injure no man, but to bless all mankind,” as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

Here, you’ll find award-winning journalism not driven by commercial influences – a news organization that takes seriously its mission to uplift the world by seeking solutions and finding reasons for credible hope.
