Sophie Ungerleider

Sophie Ungerleider is a 2024 graduate of Principia College where she studied mass communication, English, and religious studies. Her passion for impactful storytelling was cemented during her study abroads to Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Czech Republic.

At Principia, Sophie served as the editor-in-chief of the school newspaper, The Pilot, an editor for the literary journal Mistake House Magazine, worked as a writing tutor, competed as an NCAA DIII cross country runner, and served as a board member for the Public Affairs Conference. Recognized for her dedication, Sophie received multiple awards from the mass communication, religious studies, and student life departments. She was also chosen as a baccalaureate speaker for her graduating class.

Sophie cares deeply for the world and its people, and she is driven to use her voice as a journalist to uplift the stories of diverse communities.

Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.
