Shortly after the release last month of "Decision Points," the memoir of George W. Bush, a piece posted on Huffington Post charged the former president with passing off accounts from media reports and nonfiction books (including a piece by journalist Ahmed Rashid in the The New York Review of Books, a Washington Post interview with John McCain, journalist Bob Woodward’s book “Bush at War," and the memoir "American Soldier" by Gen. Tommy Franks) as his own recollections.
When asked by the BBC about the charges, Mr. Rashid confirmed that Bush seemed to have taken quotes from his article in The New York Review of Books describing Afghan President Hamid Karzai’s inauguration day without crediting him. “Neither President Bush nor his researchers paid me that compliment nor have they apologized since the quote was spotted some days ago,” said Rashid.
