More popularly known as "'Twas The Night Before Christmas," the famous poem was published anonymously in 1823, though many believe it was written by Columbia University professor Clement Clarke Moore. The work, now often published as a picture book, is partially responsible for many of the contemporary beliefs about Santa Claus, including how he gets around on Christmas Eve with a sleigh pulled by reindeer, as well as what he looks like and the idea that he transports toys to bring to children who have been good.
