Jimmy Buffett first published a book of short stories called “Tales from Margaritaville” in 1989, and has continued to publish books since, several of which have spent time on bestseller lists. He’s also tried his hand at children’s books, which he co-wrote with his daughter. Fellow musician-turned-novelist Kinky Friedman reviewed Buffett’s 2004 novel “A Salty Piece of Land” for The New York Times, calling it “a tangy tale, at times turbulent and unpredictable as the ocean, at times as wistful as the whitecaps on the waves.”
