John Lennon published two collections of poetry, short stories, and drawings, called “In His Own Write” and “A Spaniard in the Works.” The first was published in 1964, the same year the Beatles first appeared on “The Ed Sullivan Show.” "A Spaniard in the Works" followed in 1965. The two were rereleased in 2010 to commemorate Lennon’s 70th birthday. The LA Times reviewed the books and praised them both for showing a different side of Lennon: “exuberant and playful but with a fire all its own.”
