While video games based on movies usually aren’t very good (Harry Potter, Game of Thrones), Sega’s Aliens: Colonial Marines has the potential to beat the odds. Based on James Cameron’s 1986 classic thriller “Aliens,” this first-person shooters will “basically make, in video game form, the sequel to the ‘Aliens’ film that we all wished for,” according to President of Gearbox Software Randy Pitchford. Previews of Colonial Marines show that the developers didn’t stray too much from the movie, however – there’s still plenty of facehuggers and alien creatures to be terminated, and plenty of foul-mouthed marines to do the job.
While the game's release date was moved to Feb. 12, 2013, Sega will provide more previews and demos of Colonial Marines. We want to get a better look at the new aliens species they’ve developed, one of which is aptly named “the crusher” for its thick armor.
