The 1975 movie directed by Miloš Forman follows the conflict between "Mac" McMurphy (Jack Nicholson), a patient in a mental institution, and Nurse Ratched (Louise Fletcher), the manipulative and cruel nurse of Mac's ward.
According to the New York Times, the novel by Ken Kesey on which the movie was based took place at Oregon State Hospital and the film's production crew chose to shoot in the same hospital.
In addition, the hospital's director, Dean Brooks, portrayed the hospital administrator Dr. Spivey in "Nest."
The film won five Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Writing Adapted for Screenplay.
