President Bill Clinton laughs at a speech in New Haven, Conn., in September. In 1994, a teen's question about the president's choice of underwear elicited a similar reaction.

A few months into his first term, President Clinton reached out to the MTV generation, spending 90 minutes with 200 young people, discussing national, international, and personal issues.

Most memorably, asked by a 17-year-old in the audience whether he wore “boxers or briefs,” the president replied, “Mostly briefs.”
