9. Frank Caprio: Obama can ‘shove it’

Rhode Island gubernatorial hopeful Frank Caprio (D) was a bit upset when President Obama refused to endorse him. Mr. Caprio told a talk radio host Mr, Obama “can take his endorsement and really shove it as far as I’m concerned.”

Obama was loath to endorse former US Sen. Lincoln Chafee, who was also running for governor as an independent. As a senator in 2008, Mr. Chaffee had endorsed Obama for president, despite being a Republican.

Caprio said Obama’s failure to endorse him was “Washington insider politics at its worst.” Chaffee won the election.
