She may be 'common,' but she is not poor

Middleton’s lack of royal blood and middle class status has received ample coverage, particularly in the British media. She certainly is a commoner, but as the Economist reports, the term middle class has to be interpreted rather loosely in order to include the Middleton family, which actually is reported to have millions. Still, her family does have "humble roots" – her mother was a flight attendant, her father a flight dispatcher – but her parents made themselves millionaires by launching a party supply company. As a child, Kate attended a prep school that cost more than $45,000 a year.
