Mr. Miliband, the Labour Party leader, is thriving in the turmoil that has swept up Cameron’s party. Early on he called for investigations into the hacking and for Brooks’s removal from her position as head of News International. He also cast doubt on Cameron’s account of his lack of involvement in the scandal. According to the Guardian, he told Cameron that he made a “catastrophic error of judgment” when he brought Coulson on to his staff.

Miliband is keeping the pressure on Cameron to conduct a full-fledged investigation not only into News International, but into the entire British media industry.
