Kate and William "have their hearts set on a spring wedding in London," according to a Nov. 20 article in The Telegraph, and the British newspaper says the couple's so-called "first choice" date is the final week of April.
"The date, which is understood to be a weekday, is currently being cleared with other members of the Royal Family and Downing Street and is expected to be announced this week."
A spring wedding could not come sooner than April 24, which is the date of Easter Sunday in 2011. The Queen would not be expected to attend a major event during the Lent and Easter period, the Telegraph notes, which means the wedding date will likely fall between Tuesday April 26 and Friday April 29. CBS News says "speculation is rife that April 28, 2010, will be the magic day and Westminster Abbey the chosen venue."
An April wedding is auspicious, the Telegraph adds, because it's also when William's father, Prince Charles, was married in 2005 to the Duchess of Cornwall.
